Today marks the 40th anniversary of INSATIABLE (1980) opening in XXX theaters. This film was the USA's top-selling adult video from 1980-82. Starring superstar Marilyn Chambers as a rich, pampered, bored & horny fashion model/heiress satisfying her wild d.t.f. unquenchable sexual appetite, this was her long-awaited xxx return after a 7yr absence (with her last film 1973's RESURRECTION OF EVE in which she again banged BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR co-star Johnnie Keyes). Chambers was the first major performer to do fisting and one such scene was heavily cut due to censorship. There's a quick 'Ivory Snow' detergent box scene as a playful wink of meta to her early modeling days, and her final moaning at the end is sampled in the Anthrax song 'Starting Up a Posse'. This was her first & only appearance with equally legendary co-star John Holmes. [He was reputed to be involved in the Jul 1981 'Wonderland Murders' in which 4 gang members who operated a Los Angeles drug house were killed in retaliation for having committed an earlier home invasion & armed robbery. Because of his association, Holmes hid out in Florida for 5 months until he was arrested then extradited back to L.A. to stand trial for murder. In Jun 1982 he was acquitted after 3 weeks in court (which also saw the first-ever use of videotape introduced as evidence). In his later years, he did some gay work, was involved with Greenpeace, and later contracted AIDS to which he kept his HIV-positive condition secret but continued in slimebucket fashion to have unprotected sex with unknowing women, and lying that his sickness was a result of colon cancer. Holmes died in Mar 1988]. INSATIABLE was followed by a sequel in 1984.

The band's classic 2nd album released only 7 months after their forever-altering debut, and featuring 3 of their timeless signature songs now regarded as anthems. With its memorable hard-driving riffs, rumbling bass, pounding rhythm and apocalyptic lyrics decrying war, the album was originally intended to be titled 'War Pigs' but was changed by the record company fearful of backlash from supporters of Vietnam. The album's cover of a triple-exposed warrior wielding sword & shield in a forest at night was meant to convey a theme of madness & the supernatural, and Sabbath was one of the first bands to film early promotional videos for album tracks. PARANOID would serve as a template for countless hard rock 70's kids, and faced controversy in Jun 1974 after a 21yr old British nurse was found dead in her home between a pair of speakers with the album on the turntable. (She had overdosed on sleeping pills with many stating her demise was a suicide over the band's Satanic content but an Inquest later absolved them of any blame). The album would go on to be hero-worshipped by still-heavier bands that followed for the next 4 decades and today is still consistently ranked as one the greatest metal albums of all time. PARANOID remains the band's highest-selling album having sold 9.9 million copies worldwide. Happy 50th Anniversary.
