New York City will more than likely have you thinking awful. Deformed by biohazardous toxic waste and radioactive poison, these CANNIBALISTIC HUMANOID UNDERGROUND DWELLERS have decided enough is enough with lurking below in hunger, and have taken to the surface through manholes to feed largely on the homeless. A fun b-movie throwback to contaminated creatures which was followed by a sequel in 1989. Happy 40th Anniversary.

These French Canadians from Quebec are a band that you either simply get or just don't. Whether illuminating or alienating, they've undergone plenty of changes in their very impressive, expansive, exploratory & ever-evolving 4 decades of astral otherworldly experimentation. This anarchic & apocalyptic debut started out as pure unrelenting nuclear thrash with a frantic explosive delivery steeped in blazing speed and singer Snake's unique howling distorted vocals (NOBODY has a voice that is anywhere near close to his). From these humble beginnings of a less than refined sound (courtesy of sloppy bad production) would result in some straight up later masterpieces to some disappointingly flatly received mellower releases that looked as if the band had really fallen off in their stripped down efforts -- perhaps succumbing to label pressure to write more accessible songs and appeal to a broader audience. But their real full emergence was in perfected sci-fi-ish ventures into peculiar, deconstructive cyber prog metal of brainy subject matter that explored themes of technology run amok and artificial intelligence; with the music invariably backed by spot-on-point, drifting atmospheric mechanical complexity in their galloping percussion as well as unconventional & unusual dissonant chord changes and time signatures. Even at this late stage in their career of futuristic fierceness (having seen a welcome return back to form), they are the epitome of always having done their own thing. A puritanical psycho with a straight-razor (and far nastier than the filth he is condemning) is working his way through the calendar to kill women who've all posed in the bare buff for a softcore nudie mag. The models range from prosperous backgrounds (student, stewardess, nurse) and are targeted over warped religious fanaticism demanding decency. This cynical proto-slasher sexpolitation flick also features Manson family-esque scuzzy hippies and relatively ineffective police. Happy 50th Anniversary.

This month marks the 40th anniversary of RAW TALENT (1984) opeing in xxx theaters. A struggling soap opera actor unsatisfied with his gig as a waiter (you may never look at roast chicken the same again), and unable to make it in the mainstream ends up in porn where he is manipulated & exploited by an unscrupulous female director. Starring Jerry Butler who also appeared in the 2 sequels, in 1987 he married Lisa Loring best known as Wednesday Addams in THE ADDAMS FAMILY 1960's sitcom. They had met on an adult film set where contrary to many incorrect claims she was NOT a performer (that was another actress with the same name) but was a makeup artist. Loring grew increasingly unsatisfied with Butler's xxx life and called the marriage (this being her 3rd husband) the worst mistake of her life. As RT was also the title of his tell-all book, after the couple made appearances on the talk show circuit discussing their damaged relationship, they eventually divorced in 1992 with Butler passing away in Jan 2018. [Loring married for a 4th & final time with that resulting in a 2008 separation and divorce in 2014. She died in Jan 2023].
