As one of the original flagbearers of the NWOBHM (New wave of British heavy metal) by the time of this 6th album, while many critics called it a failure citing a commercial turn from their respected driving blue-collar approach into a misguided take, whatever hit n' miss trial & error, there were plenty who found the maligned mellower delivery actually refreshingly spirited. And Happy 35th Anniversary to some good friendly violent fun in store for all -- in this case, diligent manic thrash, rigorous slam-bang groove, a successful video, 2 cover songs, and their lead-off track about the most savage prison riot in American history. After this album, drummer Tom Hunting left the band because of illness. He returned in 1997, left again in 2005, and rejoined in 2007. In Feb 2021, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer and underwent a successful surgery 5 months later. Hunting is at present, cured.

60yrs ago today, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED unveiled its first-ever swimsuit issue. Infact, it began as only a 5-page supplement meant to increase readership during the winter sports cycle between seasons having slowed down. Inaugural German-born model Babette March graced the cover and future covergirls would include athletes & celebrities. It was instrumental in the rise of supermodels, and popularizing both bikini fashion and travel to exotic Caribbean beaches. And the initial first criticisms of objectification usually from subscription-cancelling pearl-clutchers who saw the swimsuit women on par with Playboy & Penthouse, are still among the funniest: One father complained he didn't want the pictures in his home for his teen son (or himself(!) to ogle, while another reader wrote in to SI saying, "I tossed it into the fire where it deserves to be with Satan and all his imps." With eventual profit$ rolling in the million$, not until 1997, did the devoted annual swimsuit feature (published in February after the Super Bowl, and increasing in thickness through the years) become separate with its own standalone magazine.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Rebecca passing away. Sadly it was just 2 days before her birthday R.I.P.

So come on let's tell the world! A heavy duty album closely following the blueprint of its previous highly successful release. Singer Rob belts out catchy choruses in banshee vocal theatrics, and hails proud declaration of the title track as a genuine motto. While its hard to believe that critics (they of that special breed of moron) had judged DOTF early on as a relative failure for lack of a standout hit single(!), it is now seen as a watershed classic (with 1984 a pivotal year) and one of metal's all-time beloved finest.
